Mrs. Travis joined Anchorage Public School in 2023. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, followed by a Master's in Public Administration.
Following her tenure in local government for a number of years, she transitioned into the private sector, taking up employment at an architectural/engineering firm, while also dedicating some of her time to a part-time role at Barnes & Noble. "It was during this time I realized I wanted to be a teacher-librarian. So, I began MAT classes at Bellarmine with a focus on Elementary Education. I have worked at JCPS for the last 16 years as a fifth-grade teacher, elementary school librarian, and middle school librarian," shares Mrs. Travis.
Mrs. Travis and her husband, Jon, share two daughters together, Emma and Avery. A fun fact about Mrs. Travis is that she comes from a family of educators. "My father is a retired high school teacher and my mother is a retired school librarian. My twin sister is also a school librarian!"
