Meet the Team

Kelly Peters - Science (6/8)

I am excited to join the Anchorage family for my 21st year of teaching science! While I’ve taught grades 6–12, middle school is my absolute favorite. I am passionate about creating an inquiry-based environment where students feel excited, welcomed and are challenged to reach their fullest potential.

I am originally from Maryland and have loved getting to explore Louisville over the past 7 years. At home, life is beautifully chaotic as a proud mom to nine-year-old triplet boys. My husband is a huge University of Oklahoma football fan, and he has officially spread that Sooner enthusiasm to the rest of the family! When I am not teaching, I love to read, try new foods and go to any place that has water—especially the beach.

Ally Giesting - ELA (6/7)

I am a mom of three (my eldest is in middle school, so I’m living the middle school life all of the time!) who loves reading, hiking, and trying out cool new restaurants. Teaching is one of my greatest loves - I’ve been teaching for 18 years, and I still learn new things every day. While I started my career at St. Aloysius School for 5 years, then followed that with teaching in Oldham County for 11 years, I am so excited to continue my journey at Anchorage. I absolutely love the privilege of getting to be part of the process of watching young people discover who they are and the great things they can achieve.

Amanda Weyhing - Social Studies (6/7)

I am excited about starting my 11th year of teaching this coming school year. I began my career teaching high school in Fayette County for two years and, for the last seven years, I have been at North Oldham Middle School. I love all things history and reading.  In my free time, I love exploring parks with my two dogs and spending as much time as possible with my two nieces. I have a small craft business and love to crochet, cross stitch, use my Cricut, and sew.  I am a huge Minnesota Vikings and UofL fan! I also love traveling, Broadway musicals, Mexican food, and jigsaw puzzles.

Kristy Crouch - ELA (7/8)

Mrs. Crouch is our 8th-grade writing teacher. She is married to Gordon, and they have two boys, Jameson and Graeme. Professionally, she is a nationally-board-certified teacher who holds an undergraduate degree from Eastern Kentucky University, and two master's degrees from Western Kentucky University and from Southern Seminary University -- both in education. Most recently completed her Education Specialist degree from the University of Louisville in Instructional Leadership.

She has been at APS since 2018 and is beginning her 21st year of teaching. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family, including her husband, boys, and nieces and nephew who live close by as well as travel, hike, work on her novel, watch HGTV, meet friends for coffee, and get outside as much as possible.

Vicky Johnston - Science (7)

Ms. Johnston is starting her 3rd year teaching 7th and 8th Grade Science at Anchorage. Before Anchorage, Ms. Johnston taught Robotics at Meyzeek Middle School in JCPS for 13 years and taught 6th Grade Science in Raleigh, North Carolina for 5 years. She is a born and raised Hoosier, living in Jeffersonville, IN; but cheers for the U of L Cards. Ms. Johnston spends as much time as possible in nature, she loves to take her daughter on hikes and to the park. In addition to spending time with family, she enjoys traveling, reading, and watching a good movie or tv show. Ms. Johnston’s goal is for all students to become independent thinkers and problem solvers. “How can we fix this or make it work?”
