Enrollment is completed by a parent or guardian. Registration for the upcoming school year takes place online during the second semester (typically in May) and throughout the summer before school begins. If you miss the registration dates or are relocating from outside the district, we encourage you to register your child as soon as possible before the first day of school.

Children who turn 5 years old on or before August 1st are eligible to enroll in full-day kindergarten. Kindergarten registration takes place in March. At that time, families will also sign up for:
Kindergarten Screening in April
Kentucky’s Common Kindergarten Entry Screener – the BRIGANCE Early Childhood Kindergarten Screen III
Both screenings offer a quick and accurate look at your child’s development in five key areas:
Each spring, before school starts in the fall, our Rising Anchors will have a special opportunity to visit the kindergarten classrooms at Anchorage School. During this visit, children will participate in fun activities, interact with current kindergarten students, and explore the playground.
While students are with the kindergarten teachers, parents are invited to attend an informative session. This meeting will offer helpful strategies and tips for supporting your child’s transition into kindergarten.
Each summer, we are excited to offer Ready, Set, Kindergarten—a special opportunity designed to help rising kindergartners begin their journey at Anchorage Public School with confidence and excitement.
During this program, children will have the chance to:
Meet their future kindergarten teachers
Interact with many of their peers
Play and learn in the classrooms they will use in the upcoming school year
Participate in informal assessments
Following the assessments, parents will receive helpful suggestions and activities to support their child’s transition into kindergarten over the summer.
Kindergarten is a magical and important milestone in your child’s development. Our dedicated teachers and staff are eager to partner with you as we begin this exciting new chapter together!
The enrollment form for all students new to the district can be accessed online.
