Beth Wallingford, Principal
Beth Wallingford brings more than two decades of experience in education to her role as principal of Anchorage School. A passionate and collaborative leader, she is deeply committed to creating schools where every student is known, valued, challenged, and supported.
Before joining Anchorage, Ms. Wallingford served as principal of Crestwood Elementary, where she led with a clear instructional vision, strengthened school culture, and fostered strong family partnerships. Under her leadership, staff implemented a high-quality literacy curriculum, aligned instructional practices across grade levels, and used data to refine teaching and learning. She also introduced new structures for feedback, professional learning, and shared ownership of student progress.
Throughout her career, Ms. Wallingford has prioritized relationships, clarity, and instructional excellence. She has facilitated strategic planning processes, guided staff through curriculum and assessment design, streamlined operations, and led initiatives that improved student engagement and school culture. Her work to implement a consistent, proactive behavior framework helped foster a learning environment where students thrive both academically and socially.
Ms. Wallingford holds an Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership and School Administration from Bellarmine University, as well as degrees and endorsements in psychology, science education, special education, and gifted education. She is also a proud mother of three and a life–long resident of the Louisville area, graduating from Sacred Heart Academy in 1998.
Ms. Wallingford looks forward to working alongside Anchorage families, staff, and students to build on the school’s tradition of excellence while charting a shared course into the future.
Bart Roettger, Assistant Principal
Bart Roettger, began his career in education in 1999 as a 6th-grade teacher at Blackburn Elementary School in Hickory, NC. During his 24-year career, Mr. Roettger has worked his entire career in grades 5 - 9 as an instructional leader, administrator, and coach. After helping lead Dunbar High School to the 2008 State Baseball Championship over Shelby County High School, Mr. Roettger was named Head Baseball Coach at SCHS weeks later. During his time in Shelby County, Mr. Roettger taught Algebra and served in many leadership roles until he was named Assistant Principal at Shelby County East Middle School in 2016. Since 2018, Mr. Roettger has served as an assistant principal at Shelby County High School.
Mr. Roettger loves helping students find their niche within the school community. When he is not supporting his students as they excel in their extracurricular activities, he can be found rooting on or coaching his own two sons in their various endeavors. Many of which include fellow Anchors!
Mr. Roettger is married and has two sons. They are also the proud owners of a fun fluffy dog named Louie. When he is not spending time with his family, Mr. Roettger can be found working in his yard, going to sporting events, and trying to make it to the lake with whatever free time he has left!
Sharla Six, Superintendent
Ms. Sharla Six is honored to join the Anchorage Public School District as superintendent for the 2025-26 school year. Whether working as a teacher or administrator, she has dedicated her 35-year career to improving Kentucky’s public schools. A listing of her roles and experience may be accessed via this link.
Loving, leading, and serving have become the actions she relies upon when solving problems or celebrating wins! She has acknowledged there is so much to celebrate in this beautiful community and recognizes the school as its heart. In addition to leading with authenticity, her goals for the academic year include increasing communication, defining systems for maximum efficiency, and building capacity in others, including the phenomenal students enrolled in Anchorage Public School!
Sharla is married, has two grown daughters, and six grandchildren. She loves to read, travel, and enjoys a restful beach vacation with extended family each year. Her creative outlet is paper crafting and believes the mathematical practices used in these efforts keep her mind sharp. Sharla loves a good game of kickball, dodgeball, or pickleball even though she is known to break a few of her own bones in the process. Her competitive spirit is alive and well!
