Becoming a Volunteer at Anchorage Public School

What Volunteers Need to Know….

We are so thankful for our amazing volunteers! Your time and support make a positive impact on our students and staff. To ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, all volunteers must complete a few quick steps before beginning any volunteer activities.

Step 1: Complete a Background Check

Before volunteering, every parent or guardian must have a background check on file.

  • Background checks are valid for three years.
  • If you are new to volunteering or your background check has expired, please contact Hillary Arney at the district office to start the process at hillary.arney@anchorage.kyschools.us 
  • You will be notified once your background check has been approved and you are ready for the next step.

Step 2: Complete the In-person On-Demand Volunteer Training

All volunteers must complete a short in-person online training course that reviews school safety, confidentiality, and expectations for volunteers.

You can complete the training at school prior to volunteering. Just arrive 10 minutes prior to volunteering, check into the front office, and we will provide a Chromebook and a quiet space for you to complete it on-site.

Step 3: Sign the Confidentiality Statement

After finishing the online training, you will be asked to sign the Confidentiality Statement.
This form confirms that you understand and agree to maintain student privacy and confidentiality at all times.

You’re Ready to Volunteer!

Once your background check, in-person on-demand training, and confidentiality statement are complete, you are officially cleared to volunteer!

We deeply appreciate your time, effort, and commitment to our students. Your involvement helps make our school community stronger and more supportive for everyone. If you have any questions about what steps you have completed, please contact the district office.
