NOTICE OF TAX HEARING

The Anchorage Independent Board of Education will hold a public hearing in the Anchorage School Library, 11400 Ridge Road, Anchorage, KY 40223 on September 23, 2026 at 5:45 p.m. to hear public comments regarding a proposed general fund tax levy of 99.6 cents on real property and 99.6 cents on personal property.

The General Fund tax levied in fiscal year 2026 was 99.6 cents on real property and 99.6 cents on personal property and produced revenue of $6,016,903.88.  The proposed General Fund tax rate of 99.6 cents on real property and 99.6 cents on personal property is expected to produce $6,558,545.58. Of this amount, $211,326.92 is from new and personal property. The compensating tax for 2027 is 93.3 cents on real property and 97.3 cents on personal property and is expected to produce $6,150,377.01.

The proposed rate is expected to generate more revenue than received in the preceding year and will be allocated to the Building Fund and General Fund accounts, which include instructional programs, personnel, plant operation and maintenance. Under KRS 132.017, 2.5 cents of this proposed tax rate, $160,447.63, if adopted, is subject to recall; all revenues generated by the recallable portion of the proposed tax rate will be allocated to the Building Fund.
